David Stanley
Just three years after David Stanley was born to Bill and Dee Stanley, his parents divorced, setting the stage for an extraordinary event. In 1960 David's mother married Vernon Presley, Elvis Presley's widowed father. Through a strange twist of fate, Elvis Presley had become David's big brother.
David became an integral part of Elvis' daily life. He even experienced the King's prolific film career, literally growing up on the back lots of film giants like MGM and Paramount. It's no small wonder that he has ever since been hooked on the magic of movie making.
When David was only 16 years old, he dropped out of school to become the youngest bodyguard in the history of rock-n-roll, protecting the King from everyone–everyone but the King himself.
Following Elvis' death in '77, David became a New York Times' bestselling author with, Elvis We Love You Tender.
Throughout the '90s, David balanced his successful writing career with his drive to make movies. He wrote Raised on Rock and The Elvis Encyclopedia, which continue to sell worldwide. He also produced several documentaries on the rock icon and served as a technical consultant for a number of movies and television specials.
David marked his directorial debut in 2006 with The HeadHunter, the story of his life with Elvis, and is initiating preproduction activities on his second feature film. D. Edward Stanley is president of Impello Films, Inc.
